Our Mission

The Dayton Defense Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity formed to provide and promote educational opportunities for individuals and the general public on topics relating to the Dayton, Ohio, area’s Defense Sector including science, mathematics, engineering, technology, and medical health topics, and other activities consistent with these purposes. All contributions are Tax Deductible.

Our activities and support are dedicated to building vibrant, talented, and educated workforce for the Dayton region’s dynamic Defense Sector.

 

How We Carry Out Our Mission

Scholarships and STEMM Educational Initiatives

The Foundation develops, expands, and promotes educational “core purposes” in the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical (STEMM) through the granting of scholarships and other initiatives to foster scholastic pursuit by Dayton regional students in grades K-12 and the collegiate level.

STEMM Program Support

The Foundation supports the development of STEMM and other educational programs at the K-12 and collegiate levels, in partnership with other regional educational institutions, national, regional and local government entities, and educational development organizations.

Related and Outreach Activities

The Foundation supports other related community activities that further the goals of increasing STEMM educational opportunities and increasing the population of US Citizens attaining STEMM education in the Dayton Region.

Fundraising for Core Purposes

The Foundation engages in fundraising activities to support its mission through philanthropic support and engages the defense sector in partnership activities supporting STEMM education.

Economize: The Foundation complements and builds upon existing STEMM initiatives, to strengthen successful programs without duplication.

Prioritize: The Foundation responds to an identified short list of Defense Sector workforce priorities.

Governed by a Code of Regulations

Led by a Board of Trustees comprised of Defense Sector representatives.

Advised by Senior Executive Advisors comprised of defense sector, community, and educational representatives.
